Im not a big fan of government incentive programs for business, but theyre also a reality across the country so you cant do away with them without unilateral disarmament. In the case of Texas film incentives, the program over the years has been stifled enough that the state has lost a lot of business to Louisiana. Unlike a lot of the deal closing incentives that might maybe create jobs, these motion picture dollars involve actual film production and the jobs that go with it. So instead of looking at it as government money for the arts, lawmakers ought to look at it as government incentives for business.Gov. Perry liked to talk about attracting jobs from other states. In this case, Gov. Abbott can make Bobby Jindal cry.
