Im not a lefty, Im simply a friend and supporter of those who have experienced the stigma, shame, and insidious societal intolerance of those who experience left-handedness. Please, even if its snarky and funny, I have heard stories of early childhood educators training left-handed students in cruel and harsh ways. Ive seen the bumping elbows thing and witnessed the sense of exasperated, entitled, intolerance that the right-handed person responded with, no matter how subtle or controlled. It may not be on the same scale as gender, religion, race, family status, or health/mental health ability, however, it stems from the same insidious cultural beliefs and assumption that the convenience, comfort, and wants of the many outweigh the basic human rights of dignity and respect of the few.
