Im not anti-Christian (although I sometimes sound like it). Im against people who use their religion to hurt and harm others. Im against spiritual abuse. Like many, I am increasingly dismayed by the shoddy thinking of so many Christian leaders who seem to have little understanding of what the gospel is actually about. When such leaders prattle on with their foolishness - such as many are doing with regard to the unaccompanied children showing up at our borders, including our own governor -- the proper response is not silence, but to call them out. If you want the benefits of calling yourself a Christian, then act like one. Dont piss on the poor then turn around and thump your Bible. Its impossible to read the Bible and not be struck by the almost relentless focus on the need for justice and fairness for the poor, especially the least of these. If your form of Christianity allows you to gleefully dismiss them as takers, then you really need to go back to Sunday school and start over (and pay attention this time). And just because people like me refuse to be silent about how you cast pearls before the swine doesnt mean youre being persecuted.
