Im not gonna post about the DQB today. Im gonna post about a quiet, unassuming kid from Dublin, TX that I met at my first open mic night at 8.0 in Fort Worth in 2007. This guy got up and sang some of his songs about figuring life out in his early 20s, told me about his band Hurt Street, and we got to know each other as we traded gigs and played cover songs at bars around the area for a few years as he worked various day jobs to make ends meet (I recall him waiting on me at a restaurant in Weatherford once). Then he REALLY put his all into his music. He formed his new band Luke Wade and No Civilians, released two amazing records that my family and friends all love to this day, went on tour, pounded the pavement promoting his music, and now the one and only Pharrell Williams just said I want to introduce the world to Luke Wade. I couldnt be more proud to know this guy and to call him a friend. Be sure to watch him on the season 7 premier of The Voice next Monday, and cheer for this guy with all your heart. This is only the beginning for an amazing local artist right here in the 817!
