Im not happy happy today. The weather has been rainy today and yesterday was rainy with some slight sleet. Yesterday I had to go to New York City for a doctors appointment. It was not fun weather to travel in. It wasnt the worse Ive seen and at least it wasnt too cold or windy, but it wasnt fun. The hospital I had to go to was on the Upper East Side. The traffic was horrendous. The taxi ride was $25.00 from the train station. The holiday season with not so nice weather is not a great time to be in NYC. Family/near family remind us that you are best to travel using the subway at this time......i.e underground. At least the quickest route above ground was through Central Park, and my way of looking at it was that I got a ride through the Park, the eternal optimist that I am. Traffic was so backed up upon our leaving NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell Weils) that taxis couldnt even pull in. I was extremely grateful to the doorman, for lack of a better word, that found us a private car service that had dropped someone off that could take us where we were going next. So, into a new Lincoln we jumped and the fare was less than a taxi would have been. Thank you, thank you! We managed to make some fun out of the day by having an early dinner with family/near family that was with us in Punta Cana last month. It was nice of them to cook for us, especially when they had theater plans later in the evening. The train fees have changed. There are no more excursion fares and no more round trip discounts. All tickets are now one way. The only good news is that hubby has turned 62 and qualifies for the Senior fare. What a bargain that is! I have many years to wait for that discount. It was a long day, but we timed things right and from beginning to end, we were back at home in a little over 10 hours. Today it just continued with the rain. So, I thought about our visit last month and wished I was still in Punta Cana.
