Im not one to yell at the television during sporting events. During mysteries I never tell the character to avoid the dark tunnel. Im pretty sure that these people cannot hear me. But let there be harmful theology as part of some movie and I turn into a raving lunatic. We were watching a movie with the kids and during a funeral scene someone said, We dont know why God wanted this person in heaven but [he] did and we cant question it. And I started yelling.... Me: That is just a lie! It is a harmful theology that portrays God as cruel and cavalier! Thats not how it works. God doesnt want anyone to die. Its what stupid people say and its wrong. Beth: Is is possible you could instead teach our children that it isnt what we believe but other people might and they are welcome to their opinion? Me: No. Im pretty sure I wont ever be able to do that.
