Im not sure how I feel about this, but I did it anyways. Its never too early to teach your children to stand up for themselves right? Well, I have thus far been teaching my 4 year old that violence is NOT the answer, hitting someone is NEVER acceptable, and I expected him to use his clever little brain he was blessed with to find a different way to handle his problems. However, I just witnessed some 9 year old bad news from a couple streets down for the first time that I had previously only heard about. And my heart hurts for the kid after observing him once. He was in fine form, bullying and picking fights. Whipping his shirt off and daring another kid to do something back to him after almost knocking him (not my kid, another kid not from our street that I hadnt seen before) off of his bike... I can only Imagine what he has to go home to... but I gave my kid the green light on him... I told him if that kid hit him or pushed him or was picking on him, he was free and clear to hit him back and defend himself... I told him I didnt want him to hit first but that he DOES have the right to defend himself or other people and I will never get mad at him for it. Opinion poll: Did I just put too much on a 4 year old?
