Im not sure what it was that kept me from seeing #175, Office Space in the theater. Was it the people telling me Id love it (thats often the first problem with a film, someone saying youll love it) or was it that Jennifer Aniston was in it, and I really wasnt sure about her as a major actress... whatever the reason, I first saw this on Video in the Summer of 2000. I was working at Olson Engineering and the line about the TPS reports made me think of some of the Spreadsheets my boss had me working on. I remember thinking, after watching Office Space... what me so long to watch this incredible movie? The movie centers around Peter (Ron Livingston) who is close to a nervous breakdown at work and with his girlfriend who hes pretty sure is cheating on him. Before he breaks up, he goes to counseling, and its there that hes hypnotized. The only problem is, the counselor has a heart attack before Peter can be given his word to snap back. What ensues is some incredible hilarity at the expense of Peters boss, Lumbergh (played dead pan brilliantly by Gary Cole). Theres a lot of moving parts, and the acting of Aniston is actually good, and I thought this was a turning point for her in movies, where she actually could in fact act... for what its worth.
