Im not sure why, but this song, this melody, has always moved me in a unexplainable way since I was very young. It was not until Trans-Siberian Orchestra came out with this version that it hinted to me a possible reason. This night we pray our lives will show, this dream we had, each child still knows. What I prayed & wished for as a child was much deeper than most. It was not for gifts or to see Santa & Rudolph. It was for love, happiness, another life, other than the one Id been given. We are waiting... We have not forgotten... So I wished & prayed & waited & waited, but it was not to be. When she starts the On this night, On this night, On this very Christmas night run... It sounds like shes saying, Hold me tight, Hold me tight, On this very Christmas night. Now that Im older & a little bit wiser, When I hear this song, Im left to ponder if the flood of emotions I feel are from Christmases past that these lyrics & this melody hauntingly stir up where I unitentionally left them buried & forgotten in the past? Id like to think they are the overwhelming confirmation that because of the never ending & unconditional gift of love from my wife & my 3 amazing chidren, that I have finally received that long awaited Christmas wish & its so amazing that I just cannot wrap my whole heart around it. That is the reason this song touches my heart in such an emotional way.
