Im not sure why it took Robin Williams to kill himself for people to realize the seriousness of depression. If you live in New York City or anyplace similar you can walk out your door and see depression every day in our troubled youth. There are children who dont receive home cooked meals. Dont own winter coats. Siblings sharing clothes and shoes. And are far from having peace of mind in dysfunctional families. I mentor to young ladies who admit that they practice cutting (google it) and even have attempted multiple times to take their lives. Yes, its sad that someone who brought so much joy to many households and became wealthy doing it made this choice, but if everyone who posted about him actually took a couple hours a month (not much time at all) to volunteer with the youth in their community you would make a difference in many depressed lives.
