Im not sure why society holds mental health issues as such a stigmatic subject. I cant believe we tell people it is a selfish act. How selfish and pretentious of a statement that is. The brain can be a terrifying thing that we cant always control. I have attempted suicide three times. I was hospitalized for two of my attempts. I was shunned and ridiculed for the state of mind that I was in. I was told to get over it and I was reminded that I have food and clean water and that I am so much better off than others. These statements come from people who dont understand. Why is it different than having cancer? How is it different from any other tragedy? I have been in a good place for the last three years of my life. I have faced tougher times than before, and my brain just works differently now. I am fortunate enough to not be in that place anymore. But others are, and others struggle every day to get out of bed. We are so selfish. We are so rude. We hurt the ones who do the most for us. We choose to overlook the problems we see because we dont believe that mental health is a real problem. If you think like this, wake up. Talk to others. Change your perspective. Telling others to get over it, ridiculing, or criticizing is the worst thing you as a human can do to help others. You can solve these problems only through compassion. Heres a song for anyone who is hurting. I am here. I cant make everything better, and I cant make the bad days stop. But I am here for anyone in need, every step of the way. I love you all, and I care about every last one of you. Please talk to others if you have been depressed lately, or have had suicidal thoughts. There are so many people here to help.
