Im not the biggest fan in the world, but for a long time Ive been easily amused by the unique avant twang-rock-fusion sound of James Blood Ulmer. He definitely had his own spin on shredding nu music. I think he might have spoke to my heart with this one. Something about the mood of this more-recent concert he did with his band and sax legend Pharaoh Sanders that is an earthy sentiment. And seeing two legends play together that I suppose I wouldnt have imaged joining forces for some reason is a bonus. The things that happen years earlier that we dont know about... makes total sense now though. I dont know much about these guys, but at least I know they are legends for good reasons. Sanders himself is straight from the post modern jazz (free) era, right along side musicians like John Coltrane, who if he were still alive today, might be right up on this stage with these men. I wouldnt usually go this chromatic and free, but the mood of this piece is a little more melodic than all that. It dips in and out of a diatonic key, which makes it good for this group. https://youtube/watch?v=-TDt5cCHrQg
