Im not undermining Lupitas acting abilities, in fact, I was captivated by her performance, but I have to question the Oscar Award. Is it not perhaps an attempt to down-play and sooth our conscious by appearing to be politically correct and giving the message to the world that we have nothing against black people (see, we are giving them Oscars)? I feel that its not as simple as ooh, shes a great actress, give her the award. It took Halle years to win one, and she had to have slept with a white man on screen...similarly, it took Lupitas character to do the same thing. I think its more of a moral affair than anything else. But good on Lupita for making the dreams of millions of children a very real possibility.
