Im obsessed with films about film making and theres nothing more fascinating than moving pictures made in the most difficult of circumstances - as they do in the film SAFE CONDUCT - the story of a screenwriter and assistant director in trying to work production in Nazi occupied France during WWII. Directed by Bertrand Taverniers in his trademark long take style, the film is over-long (almost 3 hours) but endlessly fascinating in its plot less series of events that touches on the real life adventures of people trying to MAKE A DAMN MOVIE in the most dire circumstances imaginable.
