Im often asked why I am so vocal and open about being transgender. The answer is simple; I want to make a difference! I want to open doors and help people gain an understanding of who we are. Over half of us attempt suicide because the lack of education on the subject mixed with ignorance/hate from others. It is not an easy road by any means but being true to yourself is the ONLY way to TRULY live life. There is plenty of pain and rejection along the way, but everyone deals with that. Ive learned that when you are true to yourself and you are a genuine individual, most people will not care about any differences and those who do care are not worth your time! I always try my best to remain positive and to be encouraging but I get affected just as easily by negativity. It is so scary to be labeled as different and to not be looked at the same way because of what they know about you. Im terrified to date or even try to date because of what can happen. I get depressed and hurt if someone rejects me or if I lose an opportunity because someone cant accept me for who I am. However, I take all of that and I let it make me stronger. I push to succeed even more! What it all comes down to in the end is, am I happy and did I make a difference? How can you ever truly love someone else, enjoy life, or make a difference, if you do not first love yourself? Be you!!
