Im old enough to remember when Robin Williams got his start. His first TV gig was Mork From Ork on Happy Days. Yeah, I know. But what actually got him the gig was an early standup routine where he was juggling random objects and he was supposed to bite the apple but instead he bites the egg, yolk everywhere, etc. His delivery was so rapid-fire and wild that no one had ever seen anything like it. A studio exec almost died laughing and offered him a TV deal the next day. His sudden decision to take his own life shows that the funniest among us are usually the saddest--but like Coco reminds me: even fame, wealth, and a loving family isnt enough to lift you out of depression. Its a dick move to do that to your family, but I guess you just get to the point where you want it to stop. He should be remembered as a hyper-intelligent man who didnt get the dramatic roles he needed more of...but made millions of people laugh. Unfortunately the tortured geniuses out there dont always last. Someone should make sure Steve Martin gets a hug because hes probably next in line. Who makes the clown laugh?
