Im on a roll! ...rolling cookies that is! Its no secret that when it snows a cookie making switch turns on. Today we woke up to a blanket of snow so I set out to make the most messiest to make cookie of all time...Ambitious Kitchens Nutella-stuffed Brown Sugar + Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie. We start out with making beurre noisette (translated means hazelnut butter) by taking butter in a copper sauce pan and heating it until the milk solids fall to the bottom of the pan and brown. The resulting browned bits turn the butter a sweet Carmel hazelnut smelling burnt color. This is added to your typical flour, white sugar, dark brown sugar and baking soda. An egg, egg yolk, vanilla and Greek yogurt was added. A ménage à trois of decadent dark chocolate, semi sweet and milk chocolate chips were folded in. The dough goes into the fridge, along with a jar of addictive hazelnut flavored Nutella (did u know Nutella is so addictive worldwide that a jar is sold every 2.5 seconds?) for two hours. Once the dough is less sticky and easier to work with, I use a ice cream scooper to pull out a a chunk of dough which I flatten with my hand. A dollop of Nutella is spooned in and the dough is slowly formed around the goo. Its then rolled into a ball, placed on a cookie sheet and flatbed a bit. In the oven it goes for 10 mins or so. After cooking, sea salt is sprinkled on top of each cookie. Now wheres my milk? and a hose down--Im covered in Nutella and three chocolates! :p
