Im on a roll with the U2 stuff so, as a final post of the matter - TopicsExpress

Im on a roll with the U2 stuff so, as a final post of the matter (likely anyway), Im gonna go with the Irish boys for this weeks Bad Lyric Wednesday and the song Elevation. In the past decade or so, Bono has really run out of lyric ideas. What the heck is this song even about, if anything? Samples of some of these lyrics are High, higher than the sun, You shoot me from a gun, I need you to elevate me here, Ive got no self control, Been living like a mole now, Going down, excavation. I and I, in the sky, You make me feel like I can fly, So high. Elevation. Uh........what?! You shoot me from a gun? Living like a mole? I and I? What the heck is I and I? Seems like Bono got to the point when if he didnt have anything to write about (which has increasingly become the case), hed just throw a bunch of nonsensical phrases together and pass it off as some kind of metaphorical poetry. Nice try, Bono, but youre not fooling us. (At least, most of us). Apparently, since the Pop album (which is underrated btw), Bono has been living like a mole? Does he hang out in the Bono-cave a lot these days? Well, at least he then moves on from the mole with the lyrics A mole, Digging in a hole, Digging up my soul now., Going down, excavation. Uh.......or maybe he doesnt. Bono is really fascinated with moles in this song. Maybe he had one digging up his potatoes or something? Who knows. Apparently, only he and he knows. Not a bad song actually, but this one is a dud lyrically. For another lyrical U2 dud, check out Vertigo, which Im sure everyone has heard since it was the first song these guys got iTunes to shove down our throats via TV commercials. I wonder if moles live in place called Vertigo? Hopefully, Ill never find out. youtube/watch?v=19KstSgU-c0
