Im pleased to be able to report that my I was able to bring my wife Diana home from hospital last night, after 7 days there. Shes still very nauseous and weak, but her large bag of medications and a few weeks R&R should sort that out. Plus a further visit to our GP, if required? A sharp learning curve for my, currently, almost zero, nursing and caring skills? The very nasty infection in her right kidney was eventually identified as E. coli - the most usual suspect in such cases, particularly for us wrinklies - and all that that term implies! However, had she been drinking sufficient water and other fluids, then it shouldnt have become a problem. A lesson for us all? As well as nurse, I have now taken on the lifetime role of our households water and fluid policeman! Self-policing included, of course. In the latter instance, a trip to the local off licence to purchase a couple of beer casks? Or, more realistically, me, and Diana, being constantly accompanied by a 500ml water bottle? Thanks again, from me and Diana, for all the much appreciated moral support and good wishes from my FB friends over the past week.
