Im posting this somewhat for educational purposes. There have been numerous instances in the group over time where people who clearly dont pay attention to cinema outside of Hollywood will make comments about movies without white leads being unable to make money anywhere in the world. Which is simply just FALSE - there are healthy film industries abroad in Asia, Africa and Europe that are thriving. But if you dont keep up with these things or read up on whats doing well over there, you simply dont know. Do they compare with the Hollywood blockbuster scale? No - but its enough to have an industry, have successful movies, and have STARS within those industries that most people over here have never heard of (until they cross over and star in a Hollywood vehicle). This particular flick in this article is at $52 million in under at month - and if you mention it to the average person here, theyve never even heard of it. So when I say its a fallacy that no movies that center around or feature people of color can sell worldwide - its not opinion. Its because there are entire INDUSTRIES that prove this to be the case.
