Im pretty sure hes got the wrong end of the stick with this one. The problem with the climate is the current global economic system of more = better. As long as that remains the standard, trees will get cut down, oil will get extracted, and consumers will keep consuming at an exponential rate. What the carbon tax proposes is we keep the status quo but just put a price on it. So when it gets to the point where the worlds environments are collapsing, people who are invested in this tax will be able to scuttle off to their 21st century style bunkers, which they bought with all the carbon tax money They use Neuro Linguistical Programming to inject the good points of climate action into their business model. At the end of the day, their goal is to make money. But they will use a thousand buzz words about the climate, truths like The climate is changing. The world is getting hotter and with these truths we all agree with, they then say Give us money for your carbon. So then good guys like Leo, if he is a good guy I dont know him - thinks they are on the side of good when they tout the common mantra, but really a giant crowed of people has been manipulated. Which, according to Freud, is the doom of our race. In groups we cant think clearly. Which eaks out the main point. Leonardo Dicaprio is just an actor. Why wouldnt the UN appoint a professor with 30+ years of experience in teaching and has good standing in the communities? I hope the role only involves public speakers otherwise I doubt hes very well qualified.
