Im raising M.E.T.A. girls down here in Arkansas. Stop and think: How many little girls or boys for that matter get to go out wading in a pond at midnight in a rain shower catching frogs and snakes and tadpoles these days? I wonder how many would chased down an armadillo or possum or even a skunk and catch it alive just to get a look at it. How many get to raise a baby bird or rabbit or squirrel by hand? Do you think our children may learn something by getting out there and getting their hands dirty? This, to me, is an education a teacher and a text book cant give a kid. I dont know who was having more fun, them or me when they were this age. As for me, I think if you want to save the planet, it starts at home. Teach your kids from the time they can walk to understand whats out there and how to respect it. You dont have to be a school trained wildlife biologist. Just get out there and look around and ask questions instead of checking homework and setting parental controls on their computers. Our society is now raising entire generations of people who never leave their urban environment until they die. That seems very sad to me. I Love my girls. They would follow me anywhere. Good times.
