Im ranting again —— Red tape. It grinds my nerves to a fine dull burn and makes me stick candles in my ears and then... I light them on fire. haha Good Lord I am fired up. I am, unequivocally, a now girl. I do it right now. I want it right now. Not in 5 minutes... right now. I have patience but dont confuse that with red tape or being indecisive. I dont need to buy time to make a decision. I am so hyper focused on the goals of the day, I can give a yes or a no before they finish a sentence. Unfortunately, a majority of the business world doesnt operate at the speed I do. They mull it over... take it to the board ... present it to someone higher than them ... pass it along ... get to it after vacation ... get back with you next week ... call you when I know something (and btw every time I hear that, I think to myself because OBVIOUSLY you dont know shit at this moment, but hopefully EVENTUALLY you WILL know SOMETHING. Oh gosh Im gonna start cussing. F-it. I am so sick and tired of the way things work. Scratch that. Im so sick and tired of the way things DONT WORK. Efficiently. Creatively. Honestly. Reliably. Intuitively. Prosperously. Theres a plan, a model, a policy, a board, a contract, a meeting, a formality, an internal business method — and theres always an attorney (or 12)... who is the goalie for any fing FORWARD movement. Its B.S. Hurry up and wait and wait and wait. They spend so much time insuring nothing can or will go against their their processes and methods and visions that they must miss out on 98% of everything worthy of a faster response. Surely, businesses and people with all good ideas take their business elsewhere. Okay, where is elsewhere? Can you draw me a map with the shortest route so I can get back to making cool things happen? Seriously, I (working all by myself) must do the work of 7 or 8 corporate bobble heads. As Im working with one eye open at 5am or the other eye open at 3am... I am always working to make a centimeter of progress. I feel like Im sitting on the launch pad of the space shuttle and I reset the countdown every morning because Im waiting for someones approval thats been postponed for a fing golf game, a vacation, a meeting, a review from the board, etc. Why dont big businesses operate with the efficiency of a small business? They might actually get shit done. Instead theyre adorned with multiple layers upon layers of red tape tied that (they pretend) it just appeared out of nowhere. Like they didnt know their own procedures and policies a year ago or last week or yesterday at the luncheon or in the previous email? WTF. That tape is a noose to the entire economy. How in Gods name does any work get done in a large corporation? Does anyone have the answer? All (and I mean all) big corporations are blatantly ill equipped to handle new ideas and put them into action in less than 18 months - especially from outside sources. If I put a suggestion in everyone of their suggestion boxes that said Get rid of the red tape and they actually liked that idea, do you realize what it would take for them to implement that into action? 18 months or more. They had better have a committee meeting and take a vote on one thing or another, have a test market / market research committee run the statistics of what better performs red tape, black tape or no tape. Then of course, get the attorneys involved, etc. Sorry if this offends anyone, especially the guys... I think all of this red tape was invented by men who wanted job security, with more response time (leaving them ample time to go golf or whatever it is that they do in their high ranking position - instead of actually working. .... I need to meditate before my head spins off of my shoulders.
