Im reading the new issue of Rolling Stone tonight and came across this gem in an article about a new book by Glyn Johns, one of rocks great producers in the late 1960s and 70s who worked on albums by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, the Clash and many others. In late 1969, Bob Dylan asked Johns to see if the Beatles and the Stones wanted to make a collaborative album with him, the article reports. I had it all figured out, Johns writes. We would pool the best material together from Mick & Keith, Paul & John, Bob, and George and then select the best rhythm section from the two bands to suit whichever song we were cutting, Sadly, McCartney and Jagger both flatly declined. The closest that kind of collaboration actually occurred was this song co-written by George Harrison and Bob Dylan, sung by Harrison. Id Have You Anytime is a beautiful ballad that is the opening track on Harrisons first post-Beatles solo album, All Things Must Pass, released in Nov. 1970. youtube/watch?v=u74FxWhsdAs
