Im ready to go for what promises to be a very difficult therapy - TopicsExpress

Im ready to go for what promises to be a very difficult therapy visit. In the 3+ years that Ive been doing this, nothing hits closer to home for mommy than this one. I have spent countless hours with Mia, 17 years old, and her family since first becoming a therapy dog. Mia was always so strong when people were around and when it was just us, shed cry that she wished she could have friends, and experience her first kiss, and go to her high school prom, etc. She would put me in the childrens wagon and wheel me around the hospital. Shed cuddle with me and even we even put together a jigsaw puzzle of her and I together. Mia fought and fought, but God has other plans for her. :-( Mias friend donated stem cells. Unfortunately, transplant was unsuccessful and in the past 2 months, no amount of anti-rejection medication has helped. Last night, my friend was put on life support. The decision has been made this morning to let my friend go with dignity. Mias parents called mommy saying, Stella was there the day of diagnosis and many days since. Shes shared many happy times but more often sad. I cannot tell you how much we need Stella now. Please... Heaven is gaining another angel. :-( Mias best friend has been placed on a 72 hour psychiatric hold - shes expressed tremendous guilt and says she hates herself for killing Mia. She cried that she doesnt deserve to live and wants to die with her best friend. Friends, this is really hard for mommy and I. Mommy lost her best friend to an unsuccessful stem cell transplant. Weve got a very tough day ahead. Were going to do our best to be there for Mia and her parents. Unfortunately, mommy understands all too well what Mias friend feels and we are going to do our best to support her, too. If weve ever needed prayers and support, its today!!
