Im ready to go to New Orleans tomorrow, screw this wait!!! Im ready to see my family and my friends. Im ready to eat bananas foster pain perdu and drink mimosas at the Ruby Slipper in the Marigny, to eat po boys from Parkway Bakery and sit and look at the Bayou St John, to shop on Magazine and get tattooed by my favorite local, to stand in the neutral ground and catch so many throws you cant see my neck, to eat beignets at cafe du monde and go shopping for art on Camp Street, to wander around the quarter and stare at the tourists acting like crazy people, to see my empathic buddy Raven at Marie Laveaus and get my cards read by Miss Rose, to drink hand grenades and hurricanes, listen to dueling pianos and shop at the French market, to eat etouffee, gumbo, red beans and rice, alligator, crawfish, boudin, pecan pralines and most importantly KING CAKE, to party on Frenchman Street, enjoy the Mississippi River, hang out in front of the cathedral and watch the street performers and card readers, listen to music, dance the second line in the streets, drink all the Abita and Dixie beer I can take, walk in the cemetery, day dream about living on Esplanade, find the king cake cheeseburger food truck more than once, feed the homeless, enjoy life below sea level, sleep in a shotgun house, ride on the rail, breathe, feel free and love every single minute of being reunited with my heart in the city that owns it.
