Im really depressed. I was so happy last week this time. Then I came back to reality and realized that the whole world is going to hell. Ebola. Famine. Governmental problems. Wars. Fundamentalism. Racism. Overpopulation. We are all going to die. And the worst thing is that I cant decide whats right or whats wrong. Some have chastised me for being uninformed and some have chastised me for backing away from what I believe in. The simple truth is that there is no simple truth and that the more eloquent weave their words well. However, to have no stance at all is also unsatisfactory, and my good college classmate Gautam Gode together with Cheeku Bhasin have helped me realize this. So I will try to carve out a set of beliefs that I can stand by, and will be prepared for the missiles that will be hurled at me. Im not going to make the backbenchers happy and I will never know everything about a subject. But, like financial decision making under uncertainty, Ive got to make a decision with the limited information I have and then stand by it. Phew. Happy Friday. I suppose.
