Im *really* excited for AI, because a huge number of annoyances about human life will somewhat instantly dissolve. All of a sudden, everyone will have a personal assistant who is better than a human personal assistant. All retail sales people in large chain stores will disappear, replaced by more ubiquitous and more useful AI robots. Doctors will become drastically cheaper and significantly more effective, and our entire legal system will be overhauled by impartial non-emotional beings smart enough to explain to anyone why we have all been dumb. They might also kill us all, but hopefully well all get along. Anyway, this TED talk does a great job of showing off just how close we are to AI, and the good kinds of things it will do.
