Im really thrilled to announce that Kristen Micek -- a DePaul graduate student in our Media and Cinema Studies program -- will be speaking at the Joss Whedon celebration! Kristen received her bachelor’s degree from DePaul University in English with a minor in Digital Cinema. Her academic interests include complex narrative structure, fan studies, media specificity, and the manifestation of cultural anxieties in popular cinema. She is currently working on her thesis examining the effects of the digital age on the evolution of the vampire and werewolf in supernatural teen dramas. Kristen has been a fan of everything Whedon since seeing Buffy the Vampire Slayer in grade school.
