Im recently having a running battle with one of the banks Im banking with over this text message reactivation. I needed a statement for visa purpose some years back and an account that has maximum transaction of 8 transactions in a month and for which the statement for six months shouldnt be more than 4 pages ran into 16 pages! Whole pages were filled with SMS charges! Like an average of 8 SMS alerts for EACH transaction! Of course I was mad, and did what a rights-aware person would do! I complained and harassed them till they stopped sending me SMS alerts! Of recent, this same bank, despite my expressly having written them to stop these alerts, have resumed these alerts! I went there complaining, and they said write! Yours truly wrote again and yet this dorononsense is comtinuing. Met the branch manager the other day and he pulled the famous CBN card on me! Its a CBN directive, even we staff have it on us, and I asked, You mean even when I dont want it, and expressly have put it in writing, CBN still is forcing me to expose my life to useless danger ba?. He just shook his head and went Bros, my hands are tied! Well, as a concerned friend, I will untie that hand, and if they think this is over, well, let them enjoy the luxury of that thought while it lasts! Been asking bankers from other banks and scouring the net and other sources to find out where CBN made SMS alert COMPULSORY SERVICE FOR THE CUSTOMER! Before you say I too complain look at this! There was also the case of the late Dr. Chidi Nwike, the Anambra deputy governor under the Ezeife administration, who was killed by his kidnappers because he allegedly did not tell them the truth about his financial standing while he was in their den. The family of Nwike, who was abducted in Anambra State and taken to a bush in Delta State, had allegedly raised N5 million for the kidnappers and sent somebody to deliver the money at an agreed spot, only for the kidnappers to kill the former deputy governor and the person that brought the N5 million on the reason that an alert of N30 million came into Nwike’s telephone as he was about to be released and the kidnappers felt that his family was not sincere. Now with these owners of people everywhere (Wetin una wan make I call these boys WeY dey thief human beings Na?), what exactly is the plan of this bank? Abi them own CBN different? Emefiele, this kind of service no suppose dey mandatory o, there should be an opt out option o! Even if two are joined together and becomes one, some info suppose get small respect o! #StillLookingForTheCBNDocument vanguardngr/2014/07/anambra-defiant-abductors-200-kidnappings-n1-billion-ransom/
