Im reflecting this morning on Acts 9 - its the story of a man who is persecuting people who have a different idea about religion than he does. He hates them and he thinks that God hates them. This has lead him to conclude that he can kill these people because, after all, thats what God would do - right?. So one day hes going to Damascus with the intent to kill and out of nowhere he is stopped by a bright light and in the next 10mins this guy Saul learns that he has been persecuting God himself. It occurred to me that Saul has to be thinking - Im a dead man. Thats his understanding of God - he sees God as one who kills sinners. After all, it was that understanding of God that lead him to murder others in the first place. Imagine his surprise when he is met with forgiveness rather than wrath. On that day Saul became Paul because hes eyes where opened and he now had a different understanding of who God is. It was in that moment that he was truly converted by the love of God. By the way, we call this a paradigm shift... try it sometime, it might change your life... Blessings!
