Im reminded of a few verses this morning; possibly my favorite verses, not because they feel good to hear but because its exactly what we all need as Christians. Paul says in Romans 9:1 I tell you the truth. Im not lying. My conscience bears witness by the Holy Spirit that I have unceasing anguish for the lost. I wish that I myself would be cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers I worry myself to death over things that in themselves dont matter. Honestly I leave some of my bands shows feeling sick to my stomach because I didnt play our set perfectly. While in the meantime people are dying and going to an eternal separation from God. Hell. To be honest hearing the word Hell most times doesnt hold as much weight in my soul as hitting every single lick at my bands shows. Truth is most of us including myself cant stop thinking about ourselves. Paul said he had UNCEASING pain, agony, depression for others that rejected Jesus Christ. And his life made sense in light of those few verses because he risked everything for the message of Christ. Truth is, the times ive experienced anguish over people that didnt know Christ I did something about it. Hell is not to be dwelled on but we cannot ignore that it exists. Its a place to grieve over, not to arrogantly shove down peoples throats.
