Im rereading this article I scanned last night. It is a good question--can they? Is making fun of the downtrodden, or sick, like M.J. Fox by Rush Limbaugh, for instance, funny? Or making fun of poor people getting food stamps? Embedded in this article was a bit about demonized white males. Apparently one of the comedians wore a shirt saying Its OK to be a white male. It would seem they think much air time is devoted to saying it isnt, from what I can tell. Ive never noticed that being the case. I wonder if it isnt one of those reinterpretation things--like complaints about Affirmative Action for instance, or perhaps lamenting slavery, saying it was a bad thing, or even the conservative complaint about being PC, or politically correct. That means not making prejudiced jokes, or being an obnoxious bigot, or just generally being a Plantation jerk. So if you are trying to require a certain type of white male, to be a decent human being, does that mean you hate all white males? Ive never felt particularly under attack by our media, at least not in that respect. I have definitely felt under attack, along with all of the other races, ethnic groups, religions, and other proclivities, by the rich nature of it. But never have I felt the media is attacking my whiteness, more that its been celebrated. Yea, it must be a reference to our medias hatred of bigoted types that theyre talking about in this case, best I can tell.
