Im sad to hear of the passing of Mary Rodgers (daughter of composer Richard Rogers, mother of composer Adam Guettel). She was always lovely to me, even funding two of my first ballet scores. When I told her once how much I admired the songs from Sesame Street, she arranged for me to have lunch with Jeff Moss (composer of Rubber Duckie and countless other Sesame Street songs) at his apartment shortly before he died. Also, I played The Wizard in a decidedly awful production of her show, Once Upon A Mattress, when I was in high school. I was terrible. The show was really fun. I have nothing but warm memories about her, going back to being a little kid and first hearing her song Williams Doll on the Free To Be You And Me record. And man alive was she funny and smart and generous. Ill miss her.
