Im seeing a lot of support here amongst my friends for both the Green Party in this country and the new Syriza government which has just been elected in Greece. Im surprised to find myself at such odds with people I think I share many views in common with but on these issues I totally disagree. I think it is very dangerous to be supporting these ideologies but Ive been struggling to find the words to succinctly explain my objections and to try and spread a different perspective. Hopefully some of you will check this video, an Anarchist perspective on the events of this week which I think highlights some serious points which you may not have considered. The parallels between this time in history and the lead up to the 2nd world war are stark and it seems we are unable to learn the lessons of history. The Nazis came to power on a socialist platform, exploiting peoples genuine concern with the economy to place themselves into power and greatly expand the scope and power of government in the process. Im really really asking all those who have been posting pro Green stories or posting memes about the new greek government to please check this video in full.
