Im seeing more and more posts about utility bills, especially electric. Something is going on. I previously lived in a condo where I payed to the owner and was being ripped off quite a lot. I now have moved and pay directly to the electricity board. It is a modest one bedroom condo, and we are fans of all night air con but that is it really. Our first bill was 5000 baht for a month. We complained, then decided to pay it as a one off and see what happened next month. Next month nearly 6000 baht. We kicked up quite a fuss to the point where our landlord said we didnt have to pay our bill until he got to the root of the problem. Sweet, right? Until we were informed a week ago that the electric board had checked the meter and there was nothing wrong with it. We never thought the problem was related to the meter anyway- the condo technicians would easily have ruled that out. Anyway we were informed we needed to pay the 6000, oh and the new bill is 5000 again, so a grand total of 11000. This message was given in a far different tone than the apologetic attitude we experienced when we initially raised the matter. To reiterate- yes, we use the air con a lot, we have a fridge, we occasionally use the stove and microwave. We dont even have a telly. Somethings up.
