Please take time to not only donate and do the challenge but to also do some reading and educate yourself on what Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is and how it affects the lives of those living with it. Did you know the suicide rate among ALS patients is significantly high? Did you know that eventually these patients become paralyzed but many times they die from a secondary infection such as pneumonia because of the negative effects it has on the body, weakening their immune system? I was challenged by my sister Nicole and I challenge my past nursing school instructor and friend Robyn Nance Servais and her entire MedSurge class, my friend and ARNP Sarah Yates Hutcherson, my mentor and friend Chris Humphrey, my friend Kevin McFlevin, and all of my aunts~ Toni Pitezel Wildman, Sudey Sellers, Lisa Rice Pitezel, Polly Pitezel, and Nina Daylor.
