Im sharing a friends post because I feel it is so needed. If more parents raised their girls with this philosophy, it would help them avoid so many problems. Thanks Lindsey for being such an awesome mother. One of the most profound traits that I hope to instill in my girls is the bone-deep knowledge that they are valuable....that no boy can replace or increase that value. I cannot seem to open a window on social media anymore without being smacked in the face with teens taking selfies, standing provocatively, wearing clothing as revealing as lingerie. It breaks my heart, and quite frankly angers me. I can very well remember being a teenager, and I have no doubt in my mind that I would have found the above statements prudish coming from someone my age. But where is their cheerleader? Where is that person who should be telling them your mind, and your heart are the most attractive things on your body. That boy who shows you attention because of a half naked selfie cares as much about you as he does about what he will wear tomorrow. Unfortunately I notice parents being just as encouraging towards the behavior as the kids themselves. What is wrong with this picture?? What do I hope and pray that my girls will know? Give yourself respect, and respect those around you. The right boy will respect you for it, not just one who wants to manipulate you. Developing your mind will make you successful in life, not the number of likes on the photo you posted. Dont grow up so fast....enjoy being a kid. The size of your pants is nothing in comparison to the importance of your health. You are beautiful. Oh...and one more thing. If I ever see a provocative selfie show up in your future, I will put your precious phone in a blender and let the games begin. You have been warned. Lindsey Baker Hinkley
