Im shooting a wedding today. On Mothers Day. About 36 hours ago, mom found out I wouldnt be around at all to celebrate her. That kind of news might upset most mothers, and rightfully so. Instead, I woke up this morning to homemade cinnamon rolls, piping hot from the oven. I discovered shed already run a few wedding-prep errands on my behalf. For the ten or so minutes our paths crossed before I left, she encouraged me in a half-dozen ways, at least. I just checked my phone amidst wedding formals madness and saw that shed left me a book-length text specifically explaining why she feels blessed to be my mom. Id almost forgotten this day is about HER, but quite frankly, she hasnt allowed such a thing to happen as long as Ive been alive. Its ALWAYS about everyone else, and eventually the rest of us have just had to accept it. Accept the fact that for our mom, others day will always be the perfect Mothers Day. I love you, Mom.
