Im sick of seeing people blame networks for not making true non fiction and educational programming. The problem isnt the networks, but the viewers! If things like NOVA or BBC nature rated here theyd be on prime time BUT THEY DONT! BBC stuff still airs here from time to time and after episode one or two No one watches! Everyone likes to blame Discovery but Discovery is a publicly traded company obligated to its share holders to turn profits. Ratings = ad money = profits. Dont blame the networks. Blame the American culture who changes the channel if there is no fear, danger or laughter involved. Sad truth is Attenborough still rates overseas hence BBC nature still cranking out quality. That goes to show you its not a TV problem but a cultural one. TV is a societal mirror. What rates is what you see... What doesnt gets axed. Lets stop blaming Networks and encourage them to make better shows by watching them when they AIR!
