Im sitting at the airport in Austin and I cant believe where Ive been and the things Ive done this weekend. I enjoyed the National Poetry Awards and the different events that they had. Various spoken word artists came together and we all shared something in common: were leaders in different ways of being an artist. Some are musicians, authors, hosts, activists, and the list goes on. To be amongst talented people that support each other was the most gratifying feeling that I felt in so long. Im ready to write again and keep pushing myself because I witnessed what hard work can bring: recognition. Everyone was a winner because to be nominated said something about them. I look forward to working with these artists and really bringing people together. Thank you, Troy Poet Lewis II for putting this together. I applaud everyone that participated and shared their gifts. It truly was a pleasure meeting everyone and hope we stay connected.
