Im sitting here in a mostly empty Board of County Commissioners meeting ... just the news editor from the local paper and me. It didnt start empty. Fifty high school athletes and coaches were recognized by the board - which was lovely. Oh! In addition to the opening Christian prayer one of the commissioners just entertained us with another short scripture reading. I decided that instead of speaking in the public comment period that Id just be here in the presence of these officials ... all of whom know me personally ... when they discuss and vote on the proposed resolution voicing opposition to Marriage Equality. Right now they are struggling with budget issues and how to recruit and retain teachers. A perennial problem for tax averse politicians. More in a few...
