Im sitting here watching our daughter sleep, something so innocent but its not......... This afternoon Maddie collapsed on the floor causing alarms and panics everywhere, I had only just left her to run down to the house to get more clothes, her nurse Georgie had just been talking with her and had left to get some more meds when a doctor walking past Maddies room found her out cold on the floor, the emergency alarm button was pushed and I am grateful that Maddies team was already on the ward, It is not the kind of phone call any parent wants to get, my heart panicked as I ran back up the hill, to find Maddie back on the bed white as a ghost but her team informed her colour had improved dramatically, she has responded to them but has now fallen into quite a deep sleep, they have given her an ECG, pumped her full of fluids (1000mls and hour) the portable xray team have been up and she has had a chest xray, blood cultures have been taken and it looks like we are in for another blood transfusion later tonight IV antibiotics have started in case we are dealing with a septic infection somewhere, they tell me she is to be given a complete head to toe check over for anything and everything. While it may well have been the Rituximab infusion it isnt the normal kind of reaction they would have expected and she had had such a small amount of it, and she has had it previously with no reaction, her team have gone off to speak with the cancer paediatricians to see if they have any insight, maybe its just her wee body having had enough of everything we have put her through I am very grateful to her team and to her nurse Georgie for acting quickly and effectively at dealing with this. So I sit here and watch her sleep watch her breathing and watching all the monitors she is now hooked up to...............
