Im so Gary! I remember Gary having one of the best school systems in the nation and was used as a model system for other cities! I remember a thriving downtown and my mother being the first black sales lady at Comays.. and we had all the records!! Lol! I remember getting 3 for $11.00 dresses from Sears when we went school shopping! I got 3 & my sister got 3!! Coats from Robert Halls!! I remember the Easter Talent Shows at Memorial Auditorium and the Jackson 5 winning! There was so much talent here! I remember Scotties hamburgers on East 15th Ave., the Lure on the West side and my first boyfriend worked at the Lure!! Free hamburgers!! Lol! Cant forget the Good Corner, and Indiana Sandwich Shop which put Coney Island to shame!! So many good memories!! Stay tuned for Part II!!
