Im so Norfolk, I can recall the following: •mama buying us pizzas from the Giant Open-Air Market--which was located on Va Beach Blvd near Military Circle where Big Lots is now-- for our birthdays. • daddy sneaking us on the drive-in movies--which was located behind the Giant Open-Air Market--where we watched King Kong vs Godzilla movies! •attending Liberty Park Daycare and the teachers threatening to get you with the strap! •when Lafayette-Winona Middle School was Willard Jr. High, Campostella Elementary was Campostella Jr. High, and Jacox Elementary was Jacox Jr. High! •When Ruffner had 4 floors! •the deaf boy everyone referred to as Baby Jack riding his bike down Ingleside Rd! •Wild Bill from Grandy Park! •the schools being more integrated because of cross town busing! •when all homecoming games were held at Met Park (except for Norview--they had Chittum Field)! •our gym uniforms having a picture of the Norfolk Mace on them! •hanging out at Flipper McCoys and wanting to go to Circle Bingo but daddy said no! •packed school dances on Friday nights after the games in Booker T.s cafeteria! •Going to City Beach with the Hutton Y summer camp! (Hated it!) •Ocean View had an amusement park with an old wooden roller coaster that was featured in some movie called Roller Coaster, I think...and when the city tore it down! •Going to the movies at Janaf!
