Im so proud of Lace. This is her giving Spida sub cut fluids. A needle under the skin injecting fluids with glucose till we can get dehydration under control. We have had to bring him up to the house for 2 hourly feeds. Mum (Charlotte) is a little stressed when he bumps into her and even though she loves him she is a bit squealing and kicking just a bit so for his safety we will keep him with us and get them together first thing in the morning in daylight. We have to do 3 hourly eye drops (3 bottles of drops) to try to save his injured eye plus put plasma in his eye as well. So....a big night ahead for us. Thanks to Dana for being here all day since she came for 6am feeds and also to Sam and Katrina and Laura for being here all afternoon. Huge thanks to Olivia for delivering the foal safely to us and to Leita for bringing the mare. Big thanks to Dr Christine Perry from Nerang Equine for her two long visits here today and getting this foal stable. She has gone over and above to save this little guy and we appreciate her help. But most of all thanks to Amanda Vella for realising how important it was to secure the mum and she made it happen. Save A Horse Australia has purchased the mare so we can keep them together. .... as it should be. ~ Jen ~
