Im so proud of my dad right now. Hes been knocked down a few times in the last couple of years, but hes pulled himself back up by his bootstraps and is finally coming into the light. He went from a comfortable lifestyle to living with me and five kids, which in a way, I think might have helped him the most. Its definitely helped us out. My dad worked for the same place for over 40 years, and just when things started unraveling in his personal life, he lost that too, on top of everything else. Its been ROUGH. He looked for other jobs, but couldnt find one to match his previous salary and he soon found himself a victim of age discrimination. Nobody wanted to pay the old man what he was worth when they could pay a younger man to do the job for half the money. It really sucked for him. He ended up taking jobs that were way beneath his usual pay-grade and definitely below his level of expertise as a mechanic. His current job isnt even as a mechanic, but more along the lines of machinery maintenance for a small, local company. He likes it, but its not what hes known for 50 years. Well, he just called, nearly in tears, because a VERY well known company (that... ahem... starts with Fed and ends with an Ex) has hired him as a fleet mechanic at their main hub in H-Town!! Yes, my dad will be one of the unsung heroes behind the scenes who will ensure that delivery truck stays on the road in proper working order to deliver all your packages in time for Christmas and/or whatever else you need it to deliver!! Proof positive that a little patience, perseverance and faith can move mountains!!
