Im so proud of my daughter today. Yesterday she helped bury 28 boxes of unclaimed human remains from the Cook County Morgue. One box contained ten babies! Along with her teacher and fellow students, she gave these people a proper burial and prayed for them. One man arrived-having discovered that one box contained his brother. He sadly explained that he could not afford to bury his brother and thanked the school for doing so. How sad that in this country people cannot afford to bury their dead with dignity! What happened to respect for human beings living or dead? Maybe we need to spend more time and money inside our own borders helping the people that are in need to rebuild from within so things like this dont have to happen. I dont think I could do what Meg is doing- and not many people could. There should never be that many unclaimed people- not unidentified-unclaimed, because families could not afford to bury them. Its so sad.
