Im so proud to have parents who understand the necessity of a gap year in the pursuit of creative dreams, who dont want their kids to be cocooned in the comfort zone of jobs from Day 1 after their graduation, who endorse the path of struggle to hone ones skills, who value the self-respect of their children when they say that they wont take money from them. My sister graduates from Gargi College, DU this month and as a graduation gift, my parents have presented her with a Canon 70D and a license to experiment with her life for a year without any qualms. She is going to spend a year learning, experimenting and polishing her photography skills, paying her bills by freelancing, shooting portfolios, marriages, portraits and photo-essays.
