Im so very sorry but I need to rant. So many people say that common plecos should not even be attempted to keep in a 55 gallon tank or anything close. Another thing people say is that they all grow 3 foot. This is wrong since males are much smaller and that is a potential growth. My pleco is one foot plus a little bit and hes perfectly happy in my 55 plus my ammonia is fine. I run on a fluval 306 and a 60 gallon hang on back. All it does is freak out owners of these creatures. I know they can get big but a 55 is good for a long while to keep them in.
